The Bishop High School Learning Commons was designed by a collaborative team that included: school and district administration, Rudolph Construction and D&D Resources sourced all the furniture. GROUPWERK's Doug McIntosh was the design lead for the interior layout of furniture and AV on this project. AV installation was performed by Melzak Media. The school's vision was to take the 1970's traditional library set up and transform it into a 21st century learning space divided into unique learning zones.

Learning Zones 

Entrance Cafe Zone - Counter, sink and LED display

Front Desk- Leading into larger hexagonal main library area

Built-in Hexagonal Charging Station - with cafe stools, this zone is located dead center in the larger room and built around the main support beam

U Shaped Media Campfire - with low table facing toward 4 LED Digital Screens 

Huddle Stations 1 and 2 - Two different nook corners in the large room for multimedia small group work with a display screen built into table

Forum - small group planning room with short-throw projections system whiteboard screen and fliptop tables with caster chairs

Community Campfire Room (smaller hexagonal Room - Large group activities with rectangular and half round fliptop tables with chairs on casters, Ceiling mounted projected with electric controlled screen

Gathering Zone - S shaped soft furniture coated fabric benches with tables

Personal Study Zones - Soft furniture in a couple of different clusters that can be rearranged as needed

4 LED Digital Screens - On wall directly above U Shaped Media Campfire

Small Group Study Tables - 3 geometric tables that come together to seat 9 at a group

Design Studio - Multimedia desktop computers on wide tables with a short-throw video projection system and large whiteboard screen and dry-erase markers
